Professional Experience
Aquatic Bioassessment Lab, Chico, CA
May 2021 - Present
Working as a scientific technician I have assisted an environmental biologist conducting bioassessment surveys of streams throughout California. Packed heavy equipment through the field, often at elevation to survey sites. Collected water chemistry samples and performed an assessment of the physical habitat of the stream using the Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Program (SWAMP), as well as identifying plants to species. Gained a familiarity with GPS systems and worked under limited supervision. While not in the field I entered the data into the Fish and Wildlife database using Microsoft Access. Between the field work seasons I have been working in the lab identifying and sorting aquatic macroinvertebrates.
